Mindfulness-based Relapse Prevention with G. Alan Marlatt Ph.D.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide an overview of mindfulness meditation practice and how it has been applied in the treatment of physical and emotional pain (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), depression (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) and addictive behaviors (Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention).  Participants will have the opportunity to practice meditation-based exercises, including breath meditation, body scan, urge surfing, and mini-meditation breathing spaces.   The application of these exercises to preventing and managing relapse episodes will be described based on a program that offers 8 weekly outpatient group classes.  Research findings describing the effects of mindfulness training will also be presented.
CE: 30 hrs. Includes workshop, overnight accomodations, and all meals.

You will explore the natural wonder of these beautiful islands. Pods of orca whales, soaring bald eagles, racing porpoises and curious harbor seals are just a few of the creatures you may encounter on this voyage. In the evenings, after anchoring in a pristine bay, explore an island ashore or paddle a kayak. Hearty, delicious meals are served by the Zodiac's experienced crew, and you'll sleep on board in the ships' quarters. The ship has three bathrooms and two hot showers.
