Price: $2,400.00 (USD) Captain Raynaud International Schooner Raceprevious | up | nextVessel: Schooner Martha
Captain Adrian Raynaud loved the seas and all its trades. His story is virtually the story of seafaring. It stretches from his youth as an apprentice sail maker in San Francisco and his first voyage around Cape Horn in 1909, to his owrk withyouth sail-training and the restoration of the 1913 B.B. Crownsfield Schooner Adventuress. The Captain Raynaud International Schooner Race is a celebration of the camaraderie and the passion felt by those of us who maintain and enjoy traditional sailing craft.
The emphasis of this event is the celebration and challenge of sailing well under a variety of circumstances. Many crews are made up of sail-training students or adults and all levels of experience are encouraged and welcome. This event which will take place over a period of 11 days is organized and run entirely by the participating schooners. Each evening the boats will anchor and have opportunities to socialize with the other crew members. You will become the crew of the Martha as you are taught all the skills necessary to participate in this event. All meals and accomodations onboard the Martha are provided. The race itinerary for 2007 is yet to be decided, we will be posting it soon, so please check back.
